Create an Environment

Create an environment to make complex container communication simple.

Creating an Environment

When creating an environment you must make one key decision. If you wish to use a stack with your environment, you must do so during environment creation.

To create an environment, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Environments tab on the navigation menu to the left.
  2. In the top right corner, find the Create Environment button and click it.
  3. In the form, enter a name for this environment (usually the name of your application you are building) and an optional description.
  4. Click Create Environment. You will be taken to the environment dashboard.

Create Environment with Stack

To create an environment using a stack, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Environments tab on the navigation menu to the left.
  2. In the top right corner, find the Create Environment button and click it.
  3. In the form, enter a name for this environment (usually the name of your application you are building) and an optional description.
  4. Click Use Stack and select your stack and the build from the dropdown. If you wish to use IPv4 also click the box enabling IPv4 support.
  5. Click Create Environment. You will be taken to the environment dashboard.

Legacy Networking and IPv4

Enabling legacy networking will ensure that any image that might not have IPv6 capabilities will still operate in the environment. Cycle uses IPv6 by default, but unfortunately not all images are built with IPv6 networking capabilities.
